Mission Statement of ELCC
"Reaching American and International people in the greater East Lansing area for Christ, a worldwide church"
Core Values
- The Holy Bible, both Old and New Testaments, is our standard for faith and life, because it is the very Word of God.
- Prayer always moves the life of the church.
- Christians are both "hearers and doers" of the Word, therefore every Christian is a minister.
- Home cells function as the church, providing the basis for evangelism, discipleship, and equipping , and eventually planting of new churches.
- Every home cell reproduces itself, and no other ministry competes with the home cell as the basic ministry tool.
- Children and youth participate fully in church life
- Unity of Gods church is crucial, so we support the coming together of local churches for prayer and ministry.
- We believe that God has brought people from all around the world to our doorstep in the form of International students and their families, thus we will lovingly share the Good News of Jesus Christ with them, and disciple and equip for ministry those who put their faith in Jesus Christ.
- We are here to unify in Spirit and purpose, seeing Christ as the center of our lives, bringing us to a depth of love with Christ and each other, that is inviting to every person.
Statement of Belief
We believe in the One Eternal God in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (the Trinity).
We believe Jesus Christ came to earth to live and die for the forgiveness of every persons sin, and was physically resurrected from the dead to give eternal life to all who place their trust in Him.
After ascending into heaven, we believe He sent the Holy Spirit to dwell within us as Gods children (individually and as the Church), so that we can have a personal relationship with our Heavenly Father, and live a life of loving God and people that will impact the world for Gods glory.
